Musicien professionnel depuis l’age de 17ans Jacques Helmus débute la
musique à l’age de 5 ans.
Il étudie notamment avec David Liebman (saxophoniste de Miles Davis) et à l’Eastman School of Music (USA).
Il collabore sur scène ou en studio avec : Alan Stivell, Michel Leeb, Francis Lalanne, Jean-Michel Kajdan, Jean-Paul Dréau, Liane Foly, Rika Zarai, Guy Mardel, Jean Lou Longnon, , Patrick Moraz (Ex Yes), Nicolas Peyrac," Joss Baselli, Thierry Durbet, Michel Perez , Orchestre régional de jazz, André Manoukian, Brian Bennett, Steve Swallow, John Taylor, Adam Nussbaum/Jay Anderson, Bill Dobbins Manu Katché et Erik Truffaz, Jerome Regard , Amrat Hussain.
Jacques Helmus fonde l AIMRA école de jazz en 1981 à 1997 .
Il participe Participation au film «Autour de Minuit» de Bertrand Tavernier
avec Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams et Wayne Shorter.

JACQUES HELMUS Professional musician since the age of 17 Jacques Helmus began the music at the age of 5. sans doute un poète de la basse. Son groove efficace et son jeu mélodique se reconnaissent d’emblée dans le jazz et le flamenco, ses deux passions. Il enseigne l'harmonie Jazz et la basse au conservatoire de Bourgoin-Jallieu depuis 2000. Sideman incontournable depuis 25 ans en Rhône-Alpes, il met aujourd’hui son expérience au service de formations de jazz moderne, notamment avec Eric Teruel et Yvan Oukrid en trio ou l’EJT de Pierre Drevet. Il est aussi un partenaire solide dans des groupes latins très divers (Trio de Janeiro, Yvan Latapiat Trio et Sinelo septet). Mais c’est aussi un artiste complet qui écrit et arrange pour son propre quartet depuis 2014.

MANU VALLOGNES no doubt a bass poet. His efficient groove and his melodic playing are immediately recognizable in jazz and flamenco, his two passions. He has been teaching jazz harmony and bass at the conservatory of Bourgoin-Jallieu since 2000. An essential sideman for 25 years in Rhône-Alpes, he now puts his experience at the service of modern jazz formations, notably with Eric Teruel and Yvan Oukrid in trio or Pierre Drevet's EJT. He is also a solid partner in very diverse Latin groups (Trio de Janeiro, Yvan Latapiat Trio and Sinelo septet). But he is also a complete artist who has been writing and arranging for his own quartet since 2014.
